The Tenth Annual Golf Tournament – Grandravine Special Hockey

The skies were threatening in the morning, but by registration time the weather changed and it turned out to be a perfect day for a round of golf. One hundred and eighteen golfers took to the Cardinal Golf Club’s east course to help celebrate our tenth annual golf tournament in support of Grandravine Special Program.

The day’s events unfolded as planned including the hole in one, putting, longest drive and closest to the pin competitions. New this year, courtesy of Derek Lasky and Randy Osborne The Investors Group, was a chipping competition with twelve year old scotch as the prize. But the big hit, as usual, was the Porchetta station on the tenth hole.

The day was capped by a great dinner and presentation. And this year two people each walked away with a forty six inch TV in the raffle courtesy of Pat Raso of Coro Electric.

A tournament, such as this, that has been going on for ten years does not happen by accident. Beginning with the first years when it was organized by Carmelina Corvinelli and Matthew Ciccotelli, Coro Electric has been a key supporter. They continue to promote the tournament bringing dozens of golfers and sponsors each year. Grandravine president Joe Rizzuto and vice-president Michael Liotta made the presentation to Pat Raso and Mike Corvinelli for their unwavering generosity.

Another big reason for ten years of success is the team of seasoned volunteers beginning with Silvia Rizzuto who organized the event for the last several years. These volunteers, along with the able staff at Cardinal, deserve kudos for making this years event as successful as the the previous nine.

While we all have a great time on the course we cannot forget the reason that we are here and that is to raise money for Special Hockey at Grandravine. We are grateful to all the golfers that have come out for the last ten years for our special athletes. And we are grateful as well to all the corporate and individual sponsors that donate so generously every year. We couldn’t do it without you.
