2026 Year End Banquet
The Grandravine Special Hockey community gathered together for their much-anticipated year-end banquet, an event that signified the close of another successful season and the excitement of the SHI-2026 tournament. Players, families, coaches, and supporters filled the hall with energy and camaraderie, reflecting on the milestones reached and friendships forged throughout the year.
The evening began with Grandravine Special Hockey president Joe Rizzuto extending a heartfelt welcome to everyone in attendance. He expressed his gratitude to the dedicated coaches and volunteers, and offered special thanks to the team leaders and volunteers who helped make the SHI-2026 tournament a success. Joe also took a moment to acknowledge all the players, with particular praise for the skills group, who participated in the tournament for the first time this year.
This year’s banquet also featured a special tribute to Lorne Propas, who was honoured for his long outstanding service as treasurer. Grandravine vice president, Michael Liotta, delivered the presentation on behalf of the entire Grandravine community.
Lorne has devoted countless hours behind the scenes, ensuring the smooth operation of our organization. From managing expenses and keeping track of payments, to issuing tax receipts and preparing tax returns—his efforts extend well beyond the end of the hockey season. These essential responsibilities are fundamental to both Grandravine’s ongoing success and the achievements of its athletes.
The highlights of the evening was the trophy presentation, where every player received recognition for their dedication, teamwork, and perseverance. The pride was evident as each athlete accepted their awards, celebrating not only their individual achievements but also the spirit of inclusion that defines Grandravine Special Hockey.
As the season wraps up and players look forward to new challenges and opportunities, the year-end banquet served as a reminder of the power of sport to unite, inspire, and uplift. Congratulations to all members of Grandravine Special Hockey, and here’s to many more successful seasons ahead!
