The 2018 Grandravine Charity Classic – July 20, 2018

The 14th edition of the Grandravine Charity Classic took place at Glen Eagle Golf Club on July 20, 2018. No one could have asked for a better day weather wise and no one could have asked for a better day for golfing for the record number 174 golfers who came out to support the Grandravine Special Hockey program. Leading this field of golfers was Mike Corvinelli, the spirit and driving force behind this tournament, along with daughter Alessandra Corvinelli. A huge thank you goes out to Coro Electric for their continued support of this event.

The porchetta stations, from Leone Fine Foods, continues to be a perennial favourite. With Mary Leah and Susan Tari dishing it out at the first hole station and Tony and Stephen Tari serving it up at the half-way house, no one went away hungry. And for those with a sweet tooth Luci Liotta and Teresa Bhandal were serving up Bombas and coffee, courtesy of Coro Electric.

There was a new twist in the The Hole in One contest this year With sponsorship from Speedy Electric the prize was raised to $10,000 and was open to everyone. Unfortunately no one managed to sink one but there were a few close ones. Maybe next year.

After a day on the course it was time to chow done with a fabulous steak dinner from Glen Eagle Golf Club and time to award the prizes. After missing last year’s event, Frank Parisien along with Mark Jeffries, Al Sookran and Dave Singh were back to take the top spot with the best score of -13. It may be time to break them up. At the other end of the spectrum was the most honest score with Mike Corvinelli, Tony Moscione, Carlos Asenjo and Nikolin Radovani. (Their score is not published to protect the guilty).

Best Score – Frank Parisien along with Mark Jeffries, Al Sookran and Dave Singh

Most Honest Score – Mike Corvinelli, Tony Moscione, Carlos Asenjo and Nikolin Radovani

The other winners were:

Men’s Longest Drive – Dr. Marc Sherkin

Ladies Longest Drive – Lora DeMeneghi

Men’s Closest to the Pin – Mann Usif

Ladies Closest to the Pin – Josie Toma

And of course an event like would not be possible without the hard work of all the volunteers.
